Naughty boys

I'd always heard that twins get into more trouble then singletons. But I never wanted to believe it could be the kids only the parenting. However, my aunt's twins girls dumped laundry detergent all over the laundry room. A friends twins got into used motor oil and made a huge mess of their garage. My cousin's twins can destroy a room in less than 30 seconds. And the neighbors twins are out of control. I have to admit that my boys are on their way to being pretty naughty boys.

Bennett got up on top of Naomi's desk, got into her stuff and then fell off. He couldn't move b/c his pant leg was stuck on the drawer pull.

Usually I'll let the boys cry for a bit before they fall asleep for their afternoon nap, but a few days ago, Rhett wouldn't stop crying. After I let it go on longer than usual, I went into their room and found this. Ha ha ha! What can I say: Monkey see - monkey do!

Finally an Update and Pics

It's been a really busy and crazy few weeks trying to get our family organized now that Nolan is here. I know it's been a little over 2 months and we're just starting to get it. We had his 2 month check up last week and you guessed it, he's 90% in weight and 95% in height. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Nolan got all the large genes. He's already starting to grow out of his 3 - 6 month clothes, and he's rolled over 2 times. He sleeps from 9pm until 7am and he's cooing like crazy. Nolan sure is growing up fast.

The twins had their 18month check up the same day. Finally they have something in common. Though it may not look it, the brothers' head are the same size. Rhett's height is off the charts and his weight isn't far behind at 98%. Bennett, however is 100% in height and 50% for weight. 5lbs sure makes a HUGE difference when you are only 3 feet tall. They brothers still don't say much. 'Hi' and 'Go' is the extent of their vocabulary. However, if you tell them to go get their shoes b/c we're going outside, they are down the stairs faster then ever. So their understanding is great just not the speaking part.

Naomi went in for her 6 year physical. side-note: Can you believe she is 6 years old? Holy Cow!!! Anyway, she is very healthy. Naomi loves school and really loves going to her Spanish class. She already has her first crush, and it's sad b/c the boy has no clue. She is almost the same height has him and he is turning 9 soon.

Staying out of the heat of Vegas

A week after Nolan was born we took off to Blackfoot to get out of the heat of Vegas. Blackfoot greeted us with the nicest weather we could ask for. A whopping 70 degrees for the first whole week. We took a small trip to the cabin in Island Park and spent a day in Yellowstone. Naomi loved all the different animals we saw including a bald eagle and her nest, buffalo, and elk that were within 10 feet of us. Mike took Naomi fishing for the first time. She fell in love the the worms that were to be used as bate, so nothing was caught. Oh well, we now have wormy who lives in a bowl of dirt in the refrigerator. Being here has been so relaxing and recovery from the c-section has been so much easier then the last one. Thank goodness!

It's a BOY!!!

Nolan Michael Harper has finally come. YEAH!! Here are a few pictures of him and I'll be sure to post more since I was recently informed that I don't update enough. Oh for anyone that is interested I thought I'd let you know how the day went.

I went into the office on Tuesday the 4th to have my amnio done to make sure Nolan's lungs were ready. I had great hopes that the lungs were ready, why wouldn't they be, Nolan was expected to be 8 lbs already even at 38 weeks. After coming home, dropping the babysitter off at home, I headed to Walmart, with the kids, to grab some last minute groceries for the fam while I was in the hospital. I quickly filled my cart and when I went to grab the eggs, my water broke!! Luckily it wasn't a huge gush! I quickly took the kids to the restroom where I squished us all into the family stall, cart and all, and shoved an entire roll of toilet paper between my legs. I felt bad just leaving the groceries, so of course I had to buy them. Then while quickly heading to the register, I ran into a good friend who I had to stop and say hi to. Once I made it home and after a handful of phone calls, the kids had a great place to stay, all the groceries were put away, my clothes were changed, the dog was taken care of, I was on my way to the hospital. At 3pm we were told that b/c I ate a ginormous cheeseburger for lunch, we wouldn't be able to deliver until 10:30 that night. We found out that the lungs were still a bit immature which made us a little nervous, but that we could deliver anyway.

Going into the section, Mike and I were both really scared. Thank goodness we have an amazing doctor who calmed our nerves and did an outstanding job. We love Dr. Wilkes!!! He said it was his fault and ruptured the membrane while doing the amnio. which for some reason he laughed a little at. We were also able to talk the anesthesiologist into letting a friend come into the surgery with us. At 11:01pm Nolan was born at 7lbs 7oz and 20inchs long. He is a good boy. We sure love him!!!

Park City, UT

Recently we went to Park City, UT for a family reunion. We sure love playing with family and the cousins do great playing together. Of course being prego, I couldn't enjoy the fun rides, but the brothers and I had a great time playing in the grass and watching Mike and Naomi on the rides.

It's been a CRAZY week!

Can I say how glad I am that this week is quickly nearing the end and we have a long weekend to look forward too. Our son, Rhett, was just released today from a 4 day stay in a luxury hospital. We are glad that he is doing better, but we are more excited about getting our life back to normal. We thought having the brothers in the NICU was bad. At least we could go home and have a nice meal and sleep in our own bed. This time around Mike and I were switching back and forth to be by Rhett's bedside. Luckily we have great friends who took great care of us babysitting and bringing in dinners. THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! Rhett is doing fine and his 2nd round of RSV has cleared up and he should be fine until next season. ha ha!

This is a picture of him in his gilded cage.

This is how Rhett preferred to wear his cannula and get his oxygen. What a silly boy!

Turning One

I can't believe that it's been a year already. How time flies!!! Rhett and Bennett turned 1 on the 10th and we had a great celebration with family and friends. You would never believe by their size that they had such a tough start. Rhett is in the 97% for weight and 95% for height. Bennett isn't that far behind with 96% for height but 25% for weight. They are both crawling like crazy and can get around just about anywhere. We enjoy watching their personalities shine and it always amazes us how different they really are.

We Made It!!!!

Mike and I took on the impossible and took the kids camping for a week. Our poor camp neighbors put up with a lot screaming babies, really early mornings, and late nights. But, it was all worth it. We took off Tuesday morning and after a really long 12 hour car ride which was only supposed to last 8 hours we finally made it to Yosemite National Park.

We woke up early the next morning and hiked to the top of Vernal Falls. Thank goodness for Thomas, Mike's little brother and his wife Katie. Thomas carried Bennett the entire time, Rhett was with Mike and up we went. It was such a great accomplishment to get to the top and enjoy such spectacular views of the valley. Naomi was such a champ and she hiked the entire thing without a problem.

We had a great time roasting marshmallows, late night talks around the campfire, leisure stoles around Mirror Lake, bike riding, playing in the dirt, and enjoying one another's company.

Our new addition

For awhile now, Mike and I have really wanted to adopt. So we finally did all the necessary steps to be ready for the adoption. We are excited to announce that we brought our little Lucy Harper home on February 21st. She has the darkest brown hair and brightest blue eyes, the longest legs and the biggest feet. She was 5lbs 2oz and 19 inches long. She's such a good girl. She sleeps all the time, about 20 hours a day, and she has the sweetest personality. Lucy loves to be held and she especially loves to snuggle. Naomi is so good with her and Lucy fits right in with our family. I know what you are thinking. . . . . . . "what are they thinking? 3 little ones?" "we must be crazy!!" I know you'll understand once you see her. We fell in love the minute we saw her and I know you will too.

My little diaper heads

Today I decided to rest during quiet time instead of doing laundry or picking up the house while all the kids were in bed. The boys woke up early and Naomi didn't want to rest anymore, but I still did. So she went in to play with the brothers and 20 minutes, this is what I found. They were all laughing and having such a great time. Naomi said "aren't the so cute, they're my little diaper heads."

Here's an updated photo of the boys. I can't believe how fast they are growing up.

Bennett's new trick

Our little boys are growing up so fast. At just barely 9 months old they both are crawling, and they both have 8 teeth. Have I ever mentioned how much they eat? This is what is making them grow so fast? Good thing we won't be students when they are older because if they eat anything like they do now, we'd really be broke. In one day together they can eat 12-16 jars of food and 8 8oz bottles of formula. Keep in mind that everything they are fed is thicken with oatmeal to make it go further. Oh, and you can't forget all the teether foods, cheerios, graham crackers, cereal bars, apples, bananas and yogurt melts that they eat too. I thought the diapers and wipes were bad! hahaha! It's great that we love them.

I'm not sure if you can see how Benny is eating is pacifier. This is the way that he keeps it in and won't suck on it anymore. He is so CUTE! I can't get over what a great kid he is. We sure have a ton of fun with him and his silly personality.
