Easter Egg Hunt

Our little play group met at the park today to have a picnic and then an Easter Egg Hunt. We lined all the kids up so we could finish hiding the eggs and then set the kids free. It was funny to watch the younger ones pick up the egg and then sit down to eat it before picking up another one. This being the second year having an Easter Egg Hunt, the older kids were well seasoned. Hopefully this activity will continue thru the 4 years of Dental school. Naomi had a great time. At the end she noticed that she had more than some of the others, so she grabbed some of her eggs and gave them to the other kids. She never ceases to amaze me.

Red Rock

This is Mike and Naomi making their way to the top. Or maybe it was on their way down, I'm not quite sure. They had such a great time.

While I was at the shower, Mike decided to take Naomi up to Calico Basin, part of Red Rocks, but free. We like to go up there and hike around quite a bit, but have never made it to the top. On this very special day, Mike and Naomi made it. Mike said that Naomi was a trooper and hiked the whole way all by herself. Mike packed a lunch for them so they could have a picnic at the top and enjoy their accomplishment together. Naomi loves her special dates with her dad. The only bad thing that came out of it was something Mike taught Naomi. She has had a runny nose for the past 2 weeks and he forgot to bring tissue. So, instead of wiping her nose he taught her to just 'sniff it up.' Just the other day, Naomi was out playing with one of her friends. I called to her to have her come blow her nose, and she said "It's okay mom, dad said I can just sniff it up!" So that's what she did and away she went. I don't know what worse, teaching her to sniff it up or farmer blow, GROSS!! I can already tell this will be a hard habit to break.

Thanks to Everyone

This past weekend my friend, Stacie, through me a really nice baby shower. She is the queen of parties and always does a really great job. Our friend, Jamie, took on all the food assignments for the shower and did a marvelous job. Thanks to all the D. Wives who came and celebrated with us.

I've Been Tagged

Regarding me and my husband:

How long did you date? Our first date was 2 weeks after our first kiss which was in November, engaged in January, and then we were married in April.
How old is he? 30
How old are you? 29
Who eats more sweets? ME! - but I'm pregnant
Who said I love you first? Mike did.
Who is taller? Mike by 4 or 5 inches.
Who can sing better? It's a toss up; depends on if we are in the car or at church.
Who is smarter? "smart" is only relative. Mike's in Dental school, but he can't remember where anything is. I only have an Associates, but I have a little more common sense.
Who does the laundry? I do it all except carry the baskets back up stairs. For some reason, the builder thought it would be smart to put the laundry room in the basement and the bed rooms 3 stories up.
Who does the dishes? Mike. I'm not very good at putting things away.
Guilty pleasures? I am addicted to Dr. Pepper / Mike has to have his big bowl of chips and salsa every night with a HUGE glass of pink lemonade.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? It depends on the positioning of the bed. Whichever side is closer to the door, that's the side I sleep on.
Who mows the lawn? Lawn? What lawn, we live in Vegas.
Who cooks dinner? Mostly I do. Mike's at school all day and comes home really REALLY hungry.
Who is more stubborn? Mike would say I am and I would say he is.
Who kissed who first? He kissed me.
Who asked who out first? I think we just agreed to go out one night. This was to show that we were now officially dating, I guess. We went to see "The Iron Giant" and then to Taco Bell for dinner. Pretty romantic wouldn't you say.
Who proposed? Mike did. It was along the Boise River at the same spot that he first told me he loved me.
Who has more siblings? I do. 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He has 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Who wears the pants? We have a really large pair that we both fit in.
What is your favorite thing about him? I've been saying this for years, but Mike is the nicest guy I've ever met. He rarely puts himself first, and he is always willing to drop what he is doing to help out others. He keeps our family in line always remembering to have family prayer and scriptures, FHE, and family play time.

BIG BELLY

I'm really not a big fan of taking pictures of my belly and showing off how big I really am, but I was asked to take some. Lucky you. While I was contemplating whether or not to post this, I came up with my top 5 side effects of pregnancy that women can do without. Hopefully I'm not the only one feeling these symptoms:

1. Swelling: This ranges from feet to face. I just can't seem to stop swelling everywhere. My shoes at church today were wedged on, and if I took them off, I know that there was no putting them back on. My fingers are so big that my wedding ring doesn't fit anymore. I've now become a single mom. hehehe! Of course weight gain falls into this category. Genetically, the women in my family put on a lot of weight, how unfair is that.

2. Excess Hair: Ever heard of pregnancy hair, I've got it. The hair on my head is so thick and gross, and worst of all, it grows like crazy. It takes everything I've got to keep it at bay. Talk about bed head all the time. hahaha!

3. Acid Reflux: Why on earth should pregnant women have to deal with this? As if sleeping isn't hard enough already. It's there if you don't eat enough, but there if you eat too much!

4. Itchy Skin: I know we live in Las Vegas, so it is dry so that's part of it, but due to the swelling, I'm itchy! When will it ever stop?

5. Big Belly: Of course I realize why we have a belly, but it sure gets in the way of everything. Even Naomi runs into it forgetting how large it really is. Also, with the belly in the way sleeping is difficult, shaving is near impossible, painting my toes nails is completely impossible.

It's a good thing we get our boys out of all of this, and when you really think about it, I'd do it again. The blessings of children are so wonderful that I wouldn't trade it for anything. However, there is something about knowing our bodies will be perfected one day. hahaha!

Mike + Milk = LOVE

I don't quite understand Mike's obsession with milk, coming from a girl that is lactose intolerant, but her sure loves the creamy white stuff. He is drinking from a 3 quart glass jar, and this was his second helping. At one time, we had 7 gallons of milk at home, and he would average at least 3/4 of a gallon each day until it was gone. I've weaned him down to 1% so hopefully over the next 8 years I can get him down to skim.

Preschool Field Trip #2

Naomi's preschool group went on another fun little field trip to the grocery store. They met at customer service and were taken around to all the different parts of the store. At each little part, i.e. bakery, the kids were given treats. Through the entire tour, Naomi kept holding on to hers and not eating them. When she was finally asked why, she simple explained "I'm saving them for my mommy and baby brothers, I think they'll like them very much." Needless to say, I was a very proud mommy that day. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful little girl. If you look closely at the photo you can see her little pocket full of all her treats.

Preschool Field Trip #1

Last week Naomi's little preschool group went on their first field trip ever. They went to the local Anderson Dairy that was founded in 1913ish, and has survived as for almost 100 years. One very interesting fact that the kids learned was that cows drink 50 gallons of water per day. WOW! The little boy she is next to, Bryce, is her new love. Every time she goes to preschool she has to sit next to him, and do all their little activities with him. Its really cute. I love this picture because it really shows how huge Naomi is compared to all her friends. Can you blame her, she has huge parents. haha!
