I woke up this morning not knowing that it was going to be the best day ever. But I realized quickly that this was going to be a special day.
Naomi is such a great girl. She got ready for school and helped out so much this morning with breakfast and with the boys. We sent her off on the bus and I got the boys dressed and ready to go. Jackets on, shoes on, dry undies on, and we're out the door. I slid open the van door and noticed a horrible smell, so I quickly cleaned out the van just to find a sippy cup with coagulated milk the has spilled on the floor mat. No matter, I'll just clean it when I get home. So I removed the stinky mat, loaded the boys and we're off.
We head into Old Navy to return something, should only take 5 min. Of course, this isn't the case. Upon approching the registar the isle is lined with goodies just at the perfect height for my boys. After saying 'no, not this time' 200 times, we reach the brand new cashier. All it takes is for the cashier to have my attention for 15 seconds and my boys turned into a sort of King Kong meets Hulk. Rhett and Nolan run away screaming and before I get to them, the have mounted a display and pulled apart too many stacks of perfectly folded shirts. As if this isn't enough, Bennett is dancing with his hands down his pants saying he has to go to the bathroom right now. Once we're in the restroom, I have a second to plan my exit stratigy b/c that is exactly what we are going to do........exit the building. When I remember the newby with my return. UGH! I corralled the boys btwn my legs on the floor at the register, and of course, they can't sit still. This time, at least they aren't on a display. We do the return and head out the door just to notice that we had left all the doors OPEN to the car. HEY, anyone wanna steal my car? After we drive off, I noticed that Benny was chewing on something. "Where did you get that?" I asked. "On the floor at the store, mommy, but it's okay, I shared with my brothers."
The best day ever, doesn't stop there. While potty training kids, I find myself asking at every stop, "do you need to go potty?" This time, Rhett kept saying no. No before we left, no at Old Navy, no while we picked up lunch. We stop at the park for a picnic, and Rhett said, "Mommy, I peed a lot." I'm was a little upset, but I came prepared and brought an extra outfit, just in case. He's clean and we went and played. The boys quickly found out and learned that they can pee in a bush, on a tree, even on the grass. I'm not sure where all this pee is stored, but they had a great time marking their territory. Good thing we were the only ones at the park today. On our way back up to the car, I noticed Rhett walking kind of funny. "Mommy, I pooped a lot." Once back at the car, Nolan and Bennett are loaded in their seats waiting with their milk and the thought crosses my mind, 'they're safe'. As I was cleaning Rhett in the grass (I'll spare the messy details), Bennett set the car alarm off, twice, and Nolan dumped ALL of his chocolate milk all over him, the driver seat, and of course the floor, now that the mat is gone.
We get home. Rhett got a shower. We all enjoyed a nice quiet time. The twins cut the hair off of 2 Barbies. Nolan woke up from his nap completely naked and had peed all over his bed. Naomi came home from school, and we had a nice dinner. The kids did so well, that I let them watch a movie and have cake and ice cream. Which not only did their helpings, but the entire cake ended up on the floor. I sent the boys up to take a bath so I could clean up the mess. Naomi unloaded the dishwasher, and then I went upstairs to finish the boys bath. They had been quiet a bit too long, and then I notice why. At least HALF of the bath tub was empty and it's on the bathroom floor. I swear they plan these things. They have decoys, like the cake on the floor, to distract me so they can make another mess somewhere else.
All three boys were sentenced to bed without story and/or singing time. Finally everything got cleaned up and the door bell rings. A funny thought ran through my mind, 'the neighbor must have heard me loose it and called CPS on me'. But it's not. It's the Kerby sales man for the third time this week.
On a good note, Naomi got 'Groovy News' at school today. The van's floor will be shiny and clean. I'll save a bit of money since we won't be frequenting Old Navy anymore. I won't have to mop the bathroom floor this week, and the Kirby guy won't be by for a LONG time.

A mother by any other name would be as sweet?

I love your positive attitude. It is nice to know that boys are boys...and I'm not the only one who is raising them. :)
Only a mom can go through it and still love her kids at the end of the day. We're starting to have days like this as well. One day will miss it right?
Wow. WOW. I have no words.
