July in a nut shell

I realize that its been a really long time since I've posted anything. However, the excuse is pretty self explanatory when you consider how the past two months have been for us. Our little family has enjoyed a lot of fun little trips and a bunch of really great visitors.

Over the 4th of July, my parents came and we took them to Sea World. We were really impressed on how well the boys did considering how young they were to be out ALL day. Naomi surprised us and she wanted to go on the roller coaster. She was really funny when we would go flying down the hills, she would hold on to me really tight, once at the bottom she would laugh a few laughs and then realize she was safe and then burst into tears. She only rode it once, but she has asked to go on it again.

To anyone who might consider going to the beach on a major holiday, I would recommend not doing it. There were so many people there we were stuck in a really bad area surrounded by yucky sand. Good thing Naomi didn't realize that the sand was hard to play in. Mission Bay really isn't as great as they say if there is a million people there. With that said, we had a great time playing at the beach and in the waves.

Our really good friends Vereen and Amy Changalaram came to visit. It had been years since either of them had been to Las Vegas, so we took them down to the strip and enjoyed a fun evening.

Naomi got glasses. She was really nervous, but did a great job. The eye doctor couldn't do a proper eye exam on her due to her age, so she had to have her eyes dilated. I've never had to it, but from what it looked like, I'm glad I haven't had to. She muscled through a series of eye drops followed by a funny pair of glasses and multiple lights beamed in her eyes. She did great and looks really cute with her glasses on.

July brought us the beginning of our HUGE road trip. We started the trip caravaning with Mike's sister's family. They gave a a break and took Naomi in the car with them. Naomi loves being with her cousins even if it means being squished in the back seat of a car sharing a 7 inch screen to watch a movie.

The first stop was to SLC where Mike and our brother-in-law, Alan, played in a volleyball tournament. We used to play quite often when we lived in Idaho and haven't done much since, so this was a treat for Mike to play. To top it off, Mike and Alan WON!!!! YEAH!!! In these tournaments, the winning teams always get a prize, so Mike and Alan each won a $50 gift card to a sports store. Good job you two!!!!

You can't stop in SLC unless you plan on spending time at Grandpa and Grandma Great's house. They live in the center of town and have a 2 acre farm including cows, a huge barn, and an even bigger garden with the best produce. G-ma and G-pa Great make the cutest couple. They've know each other since they were 12, started dating at 13 and then were married at 20. They are now 84 . We sure love them!!!

Our road trip took us up to Blackfoot, ID. Usually at this time of year all the Harper girls get together for Education Week at BYU-I. However this time we came together for Thomas' (Mike's youngest brother) wedding. We had a great time having our usual girl's day. Mom Harper spoils us for the day. This time she took us to lunch, then shopping , and of course desert.

At the end of the month, Thomas and Katie were married in the Rexburg, ID temple. It was wonderful to have the entire Harper family in the sealing room together to welcome in the newest member. Katie is a GREAT gal and perfect for Thomas. We love her!

I'm so glad that everything went so well with your trip. It looks like you had a great time.

Tell Naomi that she looks great in her glasses!
